V-Mart’s Knee is Worse than Expected

Victor Martinez underwent surgery on Friday (the first of two surgeries) to repair his meniscus. The next surgery he has will be to repair the ACL in his left knee. The damage was worse than the doctors originally thought. It is now known for sure that we won’t be seeing V-Mart at the end of this season or post-season, as originally hoped, but he should be healthy and ready to go for 2013 Spring Training.

In my opinion, this injury is really a double edged sword… if Victor hadn’t hurt his knee, Ilitch would’ve never made the move for Prince. What will be really interesting is when we take the field in 2013 and Martinez is back and healthy. Can you imagine a 3-4-5 of Miggy, Prince, V-Mart? That would be straight nasty and people would hate Detroit like I hate the Yankees… awesome.
